Siimon Reynolds poses ten questions that he says are guides to a powerful and full life. This is because it is the quality of the questions we ask ourselves that deliver ultimate quality and value. Why? – Because the normal questions we ask are … average, posing dead-end, directionless queries. Whereas we should be asking questions that direct our thought that inspire and pose life-changing, possibility-filled value. These are the questions that direct us to the optimist and over-achiever deep within ourselves. They become habit changing and habit forming; helping us as a moral compass and roadmap. The questions are:
Q1. What are my values?
Q2. What would I do if I know I could not fail?
Q3. What could go wrong?
Q4. How could I make ten times more money?
Q5. What would X do?
Q6. Should I even be involved with this?
Q7. How could my competition defeat me?
Q8. What’s the best use of my time now?
Q9. When I die, what kind of life would I like to have lived?
Q10. How could I improve that performance?
Some of these questions are classic motivational and coaching… the balance do take you deeper into really tough territory.
Siimon suggests you do this immediately – taking just fifteen minutes prior to going onto the next thing you have to do. Revisiting this list every couple of months or when needed, will help. It can be like a compass that points you in the right direction at crucial points in your life.
Take time to at least think about these questions – how should you pose them, can you answer them honestly and with conviction… As in all books of this nature, most of us intend to do something about it, few ever do.
